Mechanical & surface properties
Impact resistance
Conditions & source details +
The coating remained intact under the stated 50 cm/kg impact condition. The supplied literature cites ≥400 h of post-impact salt spray as a pass and ≥600 h as excellent for inorganic zinc-rich primers.
Flexibility
Conditions & source details +
No coating cracks were observed after a 2 mm bend. The supplied literature describes this as a benchmark for demanding heavy-duty protection, wind energy, steel structures and bridges.
Corrosion & ageing
Water resistance
Conditions & source details +
Boiled at 98°C for 4 hours, followed by 250 hours of CASS. The literature states a salt-spray equivalent exceeding 2,000 hours, using 1 hour of CASS = 8 hours of neutral salt spray.
Abrasion resistance
Conditions & source details +
Average abrasion loss was 0.04 g (750 g / 500 revolutions, 400-grit wheel). After 100 and 200 sanding strokes followed by 600 hours of salt spray, no rust was observed.
Ageing resistance
Conditions & source details +
At 1,000 and 2,500 hours: no blistering, rust, cracking, chalking or flaking; gloss loss ≤10%.
Heat & welding
Heat, pull-off & salt spray
Conditions & source details +
After 216 hours of CASS at the pull-off locations, international brands 1 and 2 showed rust while Zhenkai remained intact. The literature states an equivalent of 1,728 hours of neutral salt spray, using 1 hour of CASS = 8 hours of neutral salt spray.
Accelerated CASS weld test
Conditions & source details +
The literature states a salt-spray equivalent exceeding 2,600 hours. No weld rust was observed on either uncoated black-steel or rusty specimens.
Substrate compatibility
Rusty-panel adhesion & corrosion spread
Conditions & source details +
Average pull-off values were 9.583 MPa (long panel) and 5.385 MPa (short panel). After cross-scribing and 96 hours of CASS, corrosion spread was <0.5 mm. After 96 hours of salt spray, pull-off adhesion was ≥3 MPa.
Salt-contaminated & rusty substrates
Conditions & source details +
No colour change or corrosion was observed after 96 hours of CASS. At 160 hours, wire-brushed specimens showed rust spots; sanded specimens did not rust (164 hours of salt spray).
Heat resistance on rusty panels
Conditions & source details +
Average pull-off adhesion on rusty specimens was 10.237 MPa, and 8.913 MPa after 400°C for 100 hours. No obvious peeling, flaking or discolouration was observed; no rust appeared after a subsequent 96-hour CASS test.
Three-condition corrugated panel simulation
Conditions & source details +
After 1,000 cycles, no obvious peeling or fracturing was observed. Average pull-off adhesion was 4.985 MPa. No rust appeared after 96 hours of CASS, although slight alkali bloom was observed.
